The water line to my house is leaking
The water line to my house is leaking. Most water service lines between the house and the street are composed of both copper and PVC pipe. The code generally requires that copper be used to a point 5 feet out from the meter and the house. Most constructions plumbers usually transition to PVC pipe to save money on installation cost. Unfortunately this transition fitting becomes a weak spot in the system. During heavy rains or extreme droughts the Central Texas ground can shift causing stress on this transition fitting eventually causing it to leak. At Benjamin Franklin Plumbing our plumbers are trained in locating and fixing these leaks. They also use a special telescoping repair fitting that allows the pipe to expand and contract with the soil lessening the chance of future leaks at the transition.
